MUSIC education charity Wren is starting a new group for anyone aged eight or over in the Okehampton area this autumn who likes to sing or play.
Okehampton Youth Roots Ensemble will have all the hallmarks of Wren Music with experienced adults and youth leaders from older Wren youth groups.
There will be a wide range of music and singing and participants do not have to be able to read music.
Some instruments will be provided but young people are also invited to bring their own.
The new group will meet weekly between 5pm and 6.30pm on Tuesdays in term time, starting on Tuesday, September 17.
Each session is £5, but you can buy a series of ten for £45. The meeting place will be the Church Hall, Market Street, Okehampton, which is opposite the cinema.
Leading the group for its first term will be Paul Wilson, music director of Wren who said: 'This will be lots of fun, a chance for young people to meet informally around the activity of music making, so we invite everyone to bring friends, meet friends and make friends'.
'With the regular weekly sessions, there'll be a chance to get some real quality into the performances.
'The aim is to bring together younger performers who have attended short term or one off events like the Wren Music summer clubs and one-off events like the food and folk day last July and get young people singing and playing.'
The new group is part of Devon Roots School — a county-wide initiative from Wren Music, with funding coming from the Devon Music Education Hub.

Over 30,000 people of all ages take part in Wren Music projects each year, in the community and in education, across Devon and further afield.
Wren Music receives financial support from Devon County Council and the Okehampton United Charities.
