THE Okehampton and District Community Transport Group is on a desperate search for a Saturday driver to keep their passenger club day trips service going.
The group requires a suitably qualified driver for its ring and ride 15 seater bus for their Saturday Passenger Club day trips.
A Devon County Council badge holder would be preferred. The position is paid.
The driver would require a wheelchair and tail lift certificate, or training can be arranged.
There is flexibility on dates, as trips can be booked to suit driver availability.
Sue Wonnacott said: 'The service takes our users out to different places of interest, like the beach, gardening centres, or even just a different town.
'It varies each time, depending on what the clients fancy doing.
'It is very important to everyone that uses it.
'It is an issue of accessibility. It allows our users to have a day out that they wouldn't get otherwise.
'For that reason, we are desperate to try and keep it going. If we can't find a driver, then we will have to put the service on hold until we can.
'This isn't a commitment for every single Saturday, it is a flexible position. But we would really love to find someone as soon as possible.
'The only alternative would be to offer the service on a smaller scale with our Peugeot vehicle. The problem is that would require finding an additional volunteer driver for Saturdays.'
If you would like to become the Saturday bus driver or wish to find out more about the group, call Sue on 01837 55000.
