OKEHAMPTON Primary School has shown its commitment to combat bullying following a week of anti-bullying lessons and sessions last week.

On Friday, November 23, the school held a special non-uniform 'blue day', encouraging pupils to wear as much blue clothing as possible.

Children then linked hands around the entirety of the school building to symbolise the school's efforts to protect everyone at the school from bullying, and to promote unity.

As well as attending assemblies and special classes, pupils made blue wristbands in art class throughout the week to show their commitment to prevent bullying in school.

The sessions were the school's promotion of Anti-Bullying Week, an initiative set up by the Anti-Bullying Alliance in 2006 to shine a light on bullying and its detrimental effects on children.

The school is currently reviewing its anti-bullying policy with the school council and staff, and it will be published to parents as soon as it is complete.
