OKEHAMPTON Primary School children experienced all of the fun of the fair last Friday, with a magical twist.
The gates of the school opened for pupils and visitors to take part in the school's annual summer fair, which had the theme of fairy tales and favourite books.
Teachers and pupils alike got into the fairy tale spirit by dressing up as their favourite characters.
There was a host of fun fairy tale inspired games and stalls, including splat the troll, Jack and the beanstalk, and drawbridge danger. Other games included spin the wheel, hook a duck, and treasure maps.
There was also a game entitled Shrek's Swamp — a game where brave children put their hands through a hole filled with gunge and jelly to find prizes.
There were stalls selling books, toys and games, fairy cakes and bric-a-brac, a chance to get your face painted, as well as refreshments to enjoy including a delicious barbecue and ice creams.
Pupils also had the chance to throw wet sponges at their teachers, as they were put in the stocks to receive a good soaking.
The event was held to raise money for the Okehampton Primary School PTFA. The money has yet to be totalled, but the PTFA are hopeful the fair raised a significant amount for their coffers.
Melissa Frew-Smith, a member of the PTFA said: 'The fair went really well, with a lovely atmosphere. There were lots of stalls for the children to buy things and play games, and everyone was having fun.
'Most parents stayed, and the fair was crowded, which was fantastic to see.
'The amount of money raised at the moment, which we think will be the final figure, is currently £2,168. We're really happy with the amount we've raised. We're going to take a well-earned break now!'
The PTFA will hold their annual Christmas Craft Fair later this year.
