THE organisers of South Zeal Carnival are warning that this year’s carnival will not take place unless more volunteers can be found to keep it going.

The carnival has been held every year for the past 30 years, ever since it was revived by a small group of local businessmen and parishioners.

However organiser Dawn Watkins said the carnival would not go ahead this year, unless more people came forward to help run it.

‘Any celebration this year will only be possible if new volunteers to become committee members come forward to assist the small group of organisers and a new treasurer would volunteer who is also prepared to assist,’ she said.

‘Without a treasurer the organisers will have no option but to disband and it will be very sad indeed if the village loses this colourful traditional event.’

The carnival group will be meeting at 8pm on Monday, March 5 in the Victory Hall, South Zeal. Anyone who would like more information can contact Dawn on 01837 840946.
