A SPECIAL Sunday service will take place in Okehampton this weekend. All Saints Church in Okehampton is holding a special 'guest service' on Sunday, July 20 at 11am. All the children and bears taking part in the teddy bear parachute jump this Saturday, July 19 are being encouraged to come along, as the service will see the bears presented with their certificates for bravery and special prizes will be handed out. Alongside this will be the 'Leaves of Life Tree,' a project which the children at Okehampton Primary School have completed. The project was initiated by the Children's Society and encouraged children to write on a paper leaf their thoughts on what they think is special about themselves, the place they live and how their community could be made better. Prayers and thoughts from the tree will be used in the service. Rector of Okehampton, the Rev Stephen Cook said: 'Everyone is welcome at any of our services, but we sometimes hold events that are especially designed to make new people feel at home. 'I think the parachute jump and the "Leaves of Life" will give the place a real buzz and we are looking forward to a meaningful and enjoyable service.'
