THE Okehampton Starlight Ladies’ group was pleased to be able to hand over cheques for several thousand pounds to two deserving charities after a successful coffee morning.

The Starlight Ladies, a group of women who have been touched in some way by cancer and regularly fundraise for charity, held a coffee morning and shop and raised £946.67.

Two cheques were handed over for £475 to Force cancer charity and sponsorship for members who are undertaking the Shine Walk — a 26.2-mile walk around London in aid of Cancer Research.

A spokesperson for the group said: ‘We have had a kind donation to make our fundraising up to £1,000. I can’t thank the Starlight Ladies and everyone who came to support us enough. Okehampton, you are amazing!’
