WALK and Talk group member in Okehampton, who enjoy living up to the organisation's name for a spot of healthy exercise and a chance to meet new friends, are looking for new members to join them.
The group (pictured right) started about ten years ago, and is free to the general public.
Olive Hennessey from the group said: 'We walk Tuesdays and Wednesdays with trained leaders. Tuesday's walk starts at Waitrose at 10.30am and is a gentle walk for the less abled of our group, lasting about an hour — ending with coffee at a local venue.
'Our Wednesday walk is for the more able-bodied, lasting one and a half hours, starting at Fairplace Church, opposite the Post Office.'
The group has about 50 members and as many as 34 people walk on Wednesdays. On the first Sunday of each month members walk further afield, sharing transport when necessary.
Olive added: 'It is a very sociable group with lots of laughter and talking and includes all ages, especially for those young at heart. New members will be most welcome.'
A programme of their walks is available from Okehampton Library, Okehampton Medical Centre or the Museum of Dartmoor Life.
