OKEHAMPTON Camera Club has provided the Times with a showcase of wonderful images taken by some of its members.
The club meets every other Monday from September to May at 7.30pm in All Saints Church Hall on Market Street. It is currently keen to welcome new members to take part.
The club has members of all abilities, with a diverse range of interests. Yet they are all united by their love of photography.
Members do not need the latest photography kit to take part — from the latest Canon or Nikon to a basic compact or a rusty old 35mm Zenith, there will be someone at the club to help members get the most out of their kit.
Club evenings range from the occasional speaker, competition evenings, workings to show and tell evenings, where members critique each others’ work in a safe environment, all with the intention of growing artistic and technical skills.
A novice would probably get the most from club membership, as there is no substitute for the networking opportunities and ‘hands-on’ playing around with a camera, aided by others who know their way around photography equipment.
The club also discusses post production technique, looking at a variety of editing software including Photoshop, Elements, Corel or the GIMP.
The club has two lectures coming up that are open to guests. The first, on October 16, will see Andy Beel (FRPS) talk about ‘The Digital Monochrome Print’.
On February 19, Adrian Langdon will discuss ‘My Wildlife Photography’. Both lectures take place at 7.30pm in All Saints Church Hall.

The Times would like to thank Okehampton Camera Club’s Mick Burke for his assistance with bringing together this set of photographs. See more photos in today's Times.
