THE village of Highampton will celebrate the longest day of the year on Saturday, June 21 with a summer solstice festival. Organised by the Highampton Commmunity Group, the festival will offer entertainment throughout the day for people of all ages, with live music, children's games, a 'Teens Zone', craft stalls, and a healing tent with local experienced healers offering a range of different kinds of healing. Entertainer Rob Pudner will act as master of ceremonies. The Hatherleigh Ukulele Bashers, Chris Stuckey and the AC Cobras, The Kitsons, the Plastic Paddys and the BideFord Phoenix Morris Dancers will be among those providing the entertainment throughout the event, which runs from 2,30pm to midnight. Tickets in advance cost £8 for adults, £5 for under 16s and under 5s go free. On the door, adult tickets cost £10. Included in the paid ticket prices is either a cream tea or hot food, with more available to buy on the day. Tickets can be purchased from Highampton Village Shop or by calling 07960 244370.
