A SPECIAL Christmas session of the Sunday Afternoon Social — a monthly dance event for the over 50s — will be held on December 18 in Okehampton.

The Sunday Afternoon Social is an event with great music, an opportunity to dance, be surrounded by good company, tea and cake. 

The Sunday Afternoon Social will be hosting a seasonal session complete with Christmas cake, mince pies, a warm fruit punch, and a festive raffle. 

It will take place from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the Conservative Club Hall, Okehampton.

The event is organised by Time for Life, which as well as offering a one-to-one enabling service for people over 65 who feel socially isolated, also runs a number of social and special interest groups and activities. 

Ali Fife Cook, from Time for Life, said that there would be a huge range of music at the event with guests invited to make requests.

She added that some who regularly attend to the Sunday Afternoon Social would be looking forward to a few Scottish dances for Christmas too.  

She said the event wasn’t about being a good dancer, it was just about having an enjoyable afternoon in good company, and it’s fine just to sway to the music, or not to dance at all.
