MORE than £2,500 was last week poured into a collection organised by Okehampton Rotary Club for its ShelterBox appeal for Haiti.

The collection took place outside Waitrose last weekend. A total of £2,600 was raised with the ongoing collection at the Okehampton Post Office, which has already raised more than £1,000. A further £700 was raised by residents of Exbourne and Jacobstowe when they held a jumble sale and social event in Exbourne Village Hall.

The club, which thanks everyone for their generosity, will now be able to send more than £4,000 to ShelterBox to provide essential shelter, water purification and emergency supplies to the many displaced and homeless persons in Haiti.
