THE gates to the gardens at Andrews Corner in Belstone will be open to the public twice this month – raising funds for two different organisations. The gardens on Skaigh Lane will be open on Sunday (April 20) for the National Gardens Scheme, and on Sunday, April 27 for Hospiscare. The garden is a haven for plants and wildlife, and has a few hidden extras for youngsters to enjoy. At this time of year the garden is full of early season colour, with magnolias in bloom underplanted with erythroniums, anemones, dicentra and other spring flowers. The garden has raised beds with unusual alpines, a vegetable garden, chickens, a children's playhouse and a new family garden trail, which includes the garden's latest arrivals — a group of fairies who are rarely seen, but live behind closed doors in various part of the garden. The garden will be open on both days from 2.30pm to 5.30pm with homemade cream teas and home grown plants for sale.
