MORE than 400 years of tin mining history will be discussed at a talk at Belstone Village Hall on Saturday February 11.
Dr Tom Greeves, an expert on Dartmoor and its history, will give a talk entitled 'From Belstone to Steeperton: 400 years of tinners and tinworking on the River Taw'.
The talk will focus on how the river influenced the mining of tin, looking at methods of tin mining and unveiling the mysterious presence of a tinners' mould stone near the footbridge over the Taw below Belstone.
Dr Greeves' last talk at the hall 14 months ago filled the hall to capacity, so be sure to arrive early for a seat. The talk starts at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be available, and donations to go toward hall funds will be appreciated.
