I AM writing to thank the people of Okehampton for their support of this year’s carnival. I would also like to give a special thanks to the carnival committee and the helpers for their hard work during the past year.

We are always looking for people to help in any capacity and always looking for fresh ideas. I would also like to express my gratitude to the people for being tolerant during the road closures and keeping the route clear; unfortunately, there are always a few who ignore this. It needs to be observed to ensure the safety of the public, people in the parade and to ensure that there is no damage to people’s property.

One sour note — could those responsible for taking the ‘No Parking’ cones, please return them, because we had to raise over £1,200 to purchase them?

We look forward to another successful carnival next year on October 15, 2016.
