I AM writing to express my gratitude to the people who stopped and helped me after I fell and injured myself whilst shopping in West Street, Okehampton, last week.

I don't know who these kind people were but they came to my aid and called for an ambulance. It arrived within minutes and took me to Okehampton Community Hospital, where the doctors quickly checked a cut to my head and my badly bruised face, before arranging transport to the Accident and Emergency Department at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The A&E staff were also excellent and quickly got me patched up.

I am now recovering at home but are thankful that there are still many people in Okehampton who are 'Good Samaritans' and willing to come to the help of a stranger in need.
