ON behalf of the trustees, staff and volunteers of the Plough Arts Centre, Torrington, I would like to send our heartfelt and sincere thanks to all supporters, friends and customers who have so kindly helped fund our recent campaign to enable our cinema to 'Go Digital'! The completed installation has just been signed off and the Plough now boasts a state of the art digital projector and associated screen and sound system. The upgrade, brought about by the demise of 35mm film stock, has been of real benefit, with an enhanced viewing experience, and improved surround sound. It has also meant that we can now screen events live by satellite from anywhere in the world including plays screened directly from the RSC and the National Theatre. Audience figures have risen dramatically as the word spreads about the quality of the experience on offer at The Plough Arts Centre. Our next and most important fundraising campaign involves the funding of a complete new IT system and box office system, which will allow better integration of internet and phone booking, a new lift (the current one has been condemned) and solar panels — to enable us to reduce the hefty electricity bills the centre faces monthly.
