I HAVE never written a letter to a newspaper before but having seen the letter from Caroline Day (April 4), I thought I would.

I am in total agreement with all the points she makes. Lots of people grumble about waiting lists, not getting the service you want etc, but when something really needs to be done, it is absolutely faultless.

I had an accident last year and within 90 minutes of it occurring I was in surgery with the (vital) operation ready to go.

My memory of my Derriford stay is a little hazy (I was unconscious for over four days) but the following four weeks recovering in Mount Gould were first rate. The care, cleanliness, general operation and everything were extremely good. Being there a while, I got to know the nursing staff and they all do care about everything.

When you have a genuine emergency we have the people with the ability to do whatever needs to be done and in a complete caring way.
