Plymouth Albion Okes 8
Okehampton thirds 20
ON a somewhat boggy pitch Albion clasped the nettle first, scoring a try to go 5-0 up. Some ill discipline from the Okes led to a sin binning, which put further pressure on their back line. However, inevitably the Okes defence held firm and Albion only managed to slot a penalty in the ten minutes.
Restored to the full complement the visitors began to pressurise Albion which resulted in Paul Tripp going over for a superb individual try, bringing the score to 8-5 at half time.
In the second half Okes were better around the break down, where the gain line was being smashed open. This in turn, was providing some quality possession for the Okes backs, so flyers Paul Tripp and Ben Woollams began to make significant yards from the possession. A breakaway, culminated in Ben Woollams putting Eddy Jones is the corner for a try, which he converted, making the score 12-8.
The game then took a turn for the worse, with further ill discipline from both sides, making the game disjointed. Jones managed to slot a penalty to take Okes further into the lead, 15-8. For the last 20 minutes, Okes set up camp in the Albion half, which of course led to a try from the man of the match Paul Tripp with the final play of the game. The win cements the Okes top of the table spot.
The team wished all the best to to Paul Alford, who suffered a detached retina last week!
