EASTCOTT Vineyard's first wine has been judged as a highly commended wine in the English and Welsh Wine of the Year Competition.

The Okehampton company's wine called 'Two Moors Rosé' is now deemed to have met the tasting requirements for Devon Regional Wine status.

The judges described the wine as having 'watermelon, raspberry and candy floss flavours' and as 'crisp with a bit of length'.

Richard Waller, winemaker said: 'We are thrilled to have achieved such recognition with our first wine and delighted to join the growing success of Devon's vineyards.'

Eastcott Vineyard is located north-west of Okehampton, near Northlew, and currently opens every day for wine sales.

Guided tours of the vineyard and winery are also available on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons.
