OKEHAMPTON Mencap has decided to 'call it a day' after its existing members found that interest in its activities has declined over the years.

The voluntary organisation, which serves adults with learning difficulties, has been running for more than 25 years and was originally based at the former Leaze Day Centre in town.

There used to be a membership of more than 30, but over the years this has declined and the three remaining members - chairperson Mandy Henley, secretary Chrissie Read and treasurer Lynda Pook — have decided to disband.

Any residue monies left from the charity will be donated to Okecroft Nursing Home, Okehampton; Meadowcroft Residential Home, South Zeal; Bracken Tor House, Okehampton and the Puzzle Tree Day Centre, Okehampton.

For any further information call Chrissie Read on 01837 55052.
