EXCITEMENT is building in Okehampton ahead of Thursday’s great Edwardian Evening spectacular, set to get everyone in the swing for Christmas!
Chairperson of the Okehampton Chamber of Trade, Jade Oliver, told the Times the forecast for the evening was looking very favourable and the shops in the town were very much looking forward to welcoming all the local people and visitors.
‘There is great excitement around as Father Christmas and his helpers will be located at the bottom of Red Lion Yard — if you want to know which two of his reindeer will be there, you will have to come down and see for yourselves,’ said Jade.
‘A lot of the local traders will be in fancy dress and many will be giving away Christmas nibbles and the odd festive tipple.
‘The chamber wishes everybody a very happy Edwardian Evening, a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. Please shop local and support your town.’
There will be carol singing in Fore Street at 7pm, a hog roast, chestnuts roasting, live reindeer in Red Lion Yard, a barrel organ and Christmas stalls in the streets.
