SOME superb wines are due to go under the hammer at a special auction taking place in Chagford this weekend, to raise money for St Michael the Archangel Church.
A bottle of Chateau Latour 1991, said to be worth at least £200, will be offered for sale, along with several other bottles of top class wines donated by Paul Henderson, the former owner of Gidleigh Park.
The sale, being run by auctioneer John Colpoys Wood, was originally due to take place at the beginning of January — but the heavy snow which fell prior to the auction led to the event being postponed.
Chagford resident Richard Davies, who kindly donated the Premier Grand Cru Classé Chateau Latour, said he was hoping for much more kindly weather conditions for Saturday's auction, which will take place in the Jubilee Hall at 1pm.
