THE team behind one of Devon's best carnivals are on the lookout for their carnival queen. The Hatherleigh Carnival committee is looking for a girl aged 12 or over on November 8 to become the carnival queen. Applicants must live in the parishes of Hatherleigh, Highampton or Meeth. They must be prepared to sell carnival draw tickets and will receive 10% of any sales over £100, and there is a grant available to help with the queen's float. In the past carnival queens have put themselves forward to represent a local organisation, therefore they will get help from that group with draw ticket sales and the float building, and in return the carnival will donate a percentage of any profits of this year's carnival to that organisation.
