ALL the hard hours of training and hitting the roads has paid off for Okehampton Running Club members Heidi Wills and Carole Cornwall who both completed their first full marathons on October 18.
They chose to run the tough Eden Project Marathon in Cornwall and took the opportunity to raise money for two charities that have helped their families.
Carole’s son was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis so one of their chosen charities is the MS Society, while the other one is Exeter Leukaemia Fund who supported Heidi’s aunt and family during her illness.
While both were nervous about the many hills ahead of them, Carole and Heidi were still excited about the challenge beforehand and were looking forward to crossing the finish line.
They stuck together through the course and both finished in a great time of 5.07:46. To sponsor them visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/CaroleandHeidi
