A TOWN council grant of £1,500 has been given to the West Devon Citizens Advice Bureau to help support and secure the service for Okehampton.

The Okehampton bureau is based in the Ockment Centre on North Street, and is available between 10am and 2pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for advice on a range of issues, including debt, benefits, employment, housing, discrimination, and many other issues.

Town councillor and former mayor Kay Bickley said: 'The CAB service is very well used and a vital service for the town.

'In the current climate, we as a town council must secure as much help and guidance for the people of Okehampton as possible.'

The funding was granted by a unanimous decision.
