MORE than 60 members of the North Devon branch of the Campaign for Real Ale descended on Okehampton on March 9 for their annual meeting.

The branch has over 250 members in an area roughly west of Exeter to the Tamar and north of the A30 to Ilfracombe.

The meeting was held at the Plymouth Inn, one of the 30 pubs in the branch area entered in the national Good Beer Guide. The pub services a number of Devon ales that were well received by members on the day.

Fiona Elsworth, North Devon CAMRA membership secretary, said:?'In terms of branch membership the majority of members are found within the EX20 postcode area.

'That was the reason we decided to hold this year's AGM in Okehampton.'

As well as official business, the event marked the retirement of branch secretary and branch treasurer, husband and wife team Terry and Trish Burrows. They were presented with a photograph album containing pictures of them at various beer festivals and CAMRA functions over the years.

The next CAMRA North Devon branch event is a social meeting at the Old Court House in Chulmleigh on Saturday, April 13 at 12.30pm.

Fiona said: 'We would welcome anyone that wants to find out more about CAMRA to the meeting. Good beer and good company is our motto.'
