MEMBERS of Hatherleigh Royal British Legion are planning to make the centenary of the start of World War One with an exhibition later this year.
The Great War started in August 1914, and members of Hatherleigh Royal British Legion, alongside members of other organisations, are busy researching information on the war for an exhibition on August 2, followed by a combined church service on August 3.
The branch would welcome any photographs, letters or memorabilia for display purposes, especially about those named on the Hatherleigh War Memorial. If you would like to help contact branch secretary Paul Wilkinson on [email protected]">[email protected]
The group's next meeting is on Wednesday, April 9 at noon in The George. The meeting is open to all wishing to become a member or wishing to make a contribution to the World War One project.
On April 12, the branch will be holding a coffee morning at Old Schools, and all are welcome for a hot drink, cake and a chat.
