THERE is an opportunity for anyone over the age of 50 to get together with others in Okehampton to enjoy a social few hours, possibly have some lunch, and watch Sky Sports.

The group, called T4L TV Sports, will meet once a week. It can then go on to decide what other programmes they would like to watch together during the week ahead, choosing from any of the sports on Sky Sports 1, 2 or 3.

T4L TV Sports will meet every Tuesday at 12.30pm at the Exeter Arms on East Street. It is just a social gathering, so there is nothing to join and no membership fee.

The group is the latest project from Time for Life, a service for people aged 50 and over, living in Devon. Time for Life mentors work on a one-to-one basis, to build confidence and enable people to remain active and independent.

In Okehampton Time for Life is running Oke-dokey, a drop-in coffee morning on Thursdays at the Fountain Inn. Several other groups and activities are in the planning stages, ranging from a book group to gentle dance. Further information is available by leaving contact details on the Time for Life phone number 0845 3047267, or email [email protected]">[email protected]

Time for Life is funded by Devon County Council and delivered by a consortium of Westbank, AgeUK Devon, Age Concern Exeter and Upstream.
