A FISHING resort in Halwill had a famous visitor recently, turning his hand from acting to angling.
Actor Will Mellor, currently staring on BBC Three's 'White Van Man', visited Angler's Paradise with his father Bill and a pair of friends to celebrate Bill's birthday and enjoy the fishing on offer.
Zyg Gregorak, who owns the business with his wife Rose, said he enjoyed Will's visit, as did some of the female residents of the village.
'He had all the ladies in the village and at Angler's Paradise weak at the knees,' said Zyg.
'He was a true gent and posed happily for photos with the customers and signed autographs for his many fans.
'When not doing this he even managed to catch a few fish.
'Their best day was on the beginners' carp lake, where between four of them, they caught over 400 pounds of carp.
'Will was bowled over by our facilities and vows to return, possibly later on this year.
'On leaving, Will said "This is a real paradise." He didn't have to say nice things as he left but he was very positive, and it was great he had such a good time.'
Zyg said Mr Mellor was not the first celebrity to fish at Angler's Paradise.
'We get quite a few down here, stars from Eastenders and other TV shows,' said Zyg.
'I don't watch soaps so I don't recognise them half the time, but customers love it when they come down.
'Steve Davis used to come regularly with his sons, and that was nice. Hopefully Will becomes a regular visitor too.'
