OKEHAMPTON Hockey Club took a team to play in the Devon U14s boys tournament at the weekend.

Playing on the water based pitch in Exeter the boys played well together, but lost their first game 1-0 to a strong Plymouth Marjons team. Undeterred they increased the tempo of their play and in the next game held a skilful Ashmoor team to a very creditable 0-0 draw.

They then lost to Ottery Crickets 0-1 in a game which produced many scoring chances for both teams.

Saving their best until last, the boys were determined to win a game.

They battled hard and chasing all the loose ball, they were rewarded with a well taken goal towards the end  of the game.

The result a thoroughly deserved 1-0 victory over East Devon.
