I SEE from the new signs erected that Abbey Car Park is now designated ‘long stay’. West Devon Borough Council tell me that this matter has been to full council and has been approved as the £2 all day parking was such a success, according to feedback received!  (From whom and when did the survey take place?)

Did I blink — where was the publicity that this was to be debated or public consultation so that objections could be raised? The last comments in the local press was that £2 all day was to remain but only after 10am.

This car park today (May 6) was, as usual, full by 8.45am with cars with tickets timed from as early as 7.30am. Before the £2 all day fee was introduced you could always find a space as people came and went throughout the day.

There is now very little short term parking for those who want to ‘pop into town’ or meet friends for lunch. Oh well off to Plymouth on the Park and Ride.
