BOTH Okehampton squash teams enjoyed victories this week, continuing their good run of form — both winning 4-1 — with the first team maintaining their 100% record and top spot in division four in the Devon Mixed Squash Leagues.

The second team recorded a third consecutive victory, with an impressive win against Devon and Exeter eight.

Stuart Lord came back from 2-0 down with a hard fought win after Stuart gradually found his game. Simon McKinnel then played his best squash of the season to win 3-1.

The third string match was another long game, with Oke's Shane Vallance matching his opponent's stroke play and eventually took the tight final game with some good perseverance.

Chris Law went down 3-0 in the second string match.

Ed Bewes continued his good form to win 3-0.

The firsts travelled to second placed Torquay to play their fourth team, in a top of the table clash.

Dave Harding, playing at five, lost 3 – 0 but showed fighting spirit and improved structure to his game.

Phil Allin at four was down 2-0 but fought back, covering the court with pace and had a never say die attitude, taking the match 3-2.

Phil Kemsley also had a close match, but came through to a 3-2 victory. Arnie Searle at two put in a highly convincing performance to win 3-0.

Clive Marais, likewise, constructed a highly competent performance to take a 3-0 victory, and never looked in any trouble.

The team therefore delivered a 17-7 win, and extend their lead at the top of the division.
