AT the end of their careers as Okehampton Rugby Club Colts, congratulations are in order on a totally remarkable season during which they were unbeaten.

The total of 23 games, covering league and cup fixtures, follows the pattern set in season 2011-12, which resulted in only two games lost. Two seasons with only two games lost is something very special and unlikely to ever be repeated.

This did not happen by magic or simple good fortune it is just reward for dedication, determination, loyalty and pride, all of which are attributes which will serve them well, either on the sports field or indeed in their daily lives.

Playing sport is a huge character building experience engulfing ecstasy and disappointments, but through it all encompasses long lasting genuine friendships and respect.

These young men will never forget their time together as ambassadors for rugby football in general, with the Okehampton club in particular.

For several weeks their focus has been to maintain their unbeaten record. That now is consigned to history and their focus now to make a similar mark at senior level.

The example set by Julian White who rose from here to reach the absolute pinnacle of rugby football by being part of the British and Irish Lions team is proof how far it is possible to go.

Okehampton has every reason to be proud of you as indeed you must be proud of yourselves.

Well done!
