STAFF at Margaret Green Animal Rescue are inviting local people to take part in their second annual fundraising day on Friday, May 20.
All you have to do is wear green for Margaret Green, Jazmim House, community fundraising assistant for the charity said: ‘Margaret Green Day is a chance for businesses, schools, local groups and individuals to make a difference to a rescued pet’s life by wearing green.
‘It’s as simple as that – arrange a donation amount such as £1 for your colleagues or classmates and make sure you post a photo on social media using the hashtag #AllTogetherForAnimals.
‘If you are feeling really adventurous, why not wear an animal onesie all day or organise an extra activity such as a cake sale, raffle or quiz.’
This will be the second year the charity has organised Margaret Green Day, after the success of the first one last year, which was held as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.
Last year, funds raised through Margaret Green Day helped Rushington the horse who came into the charity’s care after his owner became too ill to care for him.
Jazmin said: ‘Rushington is a gentle giant who started his career as a race horse before patiently teaching thousands of people to ride. After a lifetime of work, he is now able to enjoy retirement at Margaret Green Animal Rescue thanks to the generosity of our supporters.’
Claire Tice, who volunteers for Margaret Green Animal Rescue and took part in Margaret Green Day last year is encouraging more people to get involved: ‘It’s wonderful knowing that so many people are all raising money for the animals on the same day and it’s so much fun! I would urge anyone who is thinking about taking part, to just do it. It’s super simple – just wear green for Margaret Green!’
