OKEHAMPTON Squash club had mixed fortunes again last week, as the firsts scraped a victory against Paignton 5, whilst the second team lost at Barnstaple.

The first team travelled to Paignton and won 3-2.

Paul Burrows lost 0-3 as he struggled to find line and length with his shots while Phil Allin playing at string four won 3-1; Phil Kemsley at three struggled to find his line and length, going down 0-3 while. Arnie Searle playing at string 2, played well to win 3-0. With the match poised at 2-2, Clive Marais secured victory for the team with a 3-0 win and a 14-7 point victory for the team, cementing them in second place and enhancing their chances of promotion.

Okehampton two suffered a heavy loss against the top side of division five, Barnstaple, losing 0-5.

Sue Stanbury gave her opponent a good match before going down 1-3, while Dave Harwood came up against a good opponent and went down 0-3 at string four. Shane Vallance lost 1-3 at string 3, while Chris Law lost 0-3. When Ed Bewes lost 1-3 at string one it meant that the match finished 3-20 in Barnstaple's favour.
