AUTHOR Karen Hayes will visit Okehampton Library next month to run a writing workshop for the town's aspiring writers.

Karen has published nine novels and two books for early teens, as well as a collection of poetry and works as a ghost writer. She has tutored creative writing for many years, including a stint as a lecturer at Exeter University.

The general writing workshop at the library will be suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have been writing for a long time and want new tips and inspiration. Those wanting to write novels, short stories, poetry and memoirs are all welcome. There will be exercises on characters, settings, landscape, and plot.

The workshop costs £5 per person and takes place on Wednesday, April 10 from 10am to 4pm. Places are limited so booking is necessary. Tea and coffee is provided.
