THE finalists of NatWest's CommunityForce fund for Okehampton and the surrounding area have been announced.
The bank launched the initiative in July to help local charities, organisations and groups raise publicity for their work and attract volunteers. The programme also provides local charities and community projects with the opportunity to receive part of the £18,000 funding dedicated to the area through CommunityForce awards.
Online nominations for projects and charities took place between July 25 and September 4. Residents can vote for the local charity or cause they feel is most worthwhile to receive a £6,000 grant.
The three organisations out of the 43 nominees with the most votes will each receive a grant. Organisations in the Okehampton area include 1st Okehampton Scouts, Friends of the Okehampton Children's Centre, Bridestowe Cricket Club, Okehampton and District Community Transport Group and OCRA.
Stuart Hare, chief executive officer for NatWest in the area, said: 'CommunityForce has clearly captured the imagination of the local community and I'm delighted to see so many nominations.'
Voting has now begun, and will continue until October 23. To see the full list of nominees and cast your vote for which local organisation should benefit from the grants, visit http://www.natwest.com/communityforce">www.natwest.com/communityforce
