Winkleigh 0
South Zeal Utd 1
SOUTH Zeal gained their second league win of the season in the local derby at Winkleigh on Saturday.
Dominating the first half Zeal should have turned round for the second half a few goals up but a combination of missed chances and wayward final passes kept Winkleigh level as the visitors played some very good passing football.
Winkleigh started well in the second half but could penetrate the Zeal back three of Tom Reilly, Lee Gilbert and Ben Davey and eventually Zeal deservedly took the lead when Harley Cann intercepted an attempted clearance from the Winkleigh keeper the ball going into the far corner of the net off Harley's left foot.
The visitors pushed on to try and increase their lead in vain as a missed penalty and several near misses from Darren Gilbert, Darren Prouse and Daniel Gibbs kept the homes sides hopes of getting something out of the game alive, however Zeal's defence held firm to gain a deserved win.
