Bude secs 0

Okehampton secs 49

OKEHAMPTON seconds put on an exhibition of free flowing rugby at Bencoolen Meadow.

From the start the visitors looked to play an open and expansive game, keeping possession away from Bude's weighty pack of forwards. While the hosts often made this task difficult, some quick hands put wing George Baker away for the first score which Matt Johns converted.

The Okes maintained the game plan but were having to work hard. The front row of Alex Slater, Chris Knott, Dan Quinn backed up by Martin Lane, worked hard throughout allowing others to capitalise.

Baker made it a brace before half time and with further scores from Simon Cox, Chris Knott and Matt Johns the result had been secured by half time.

While the free scoring exploits were less prevalent in the second half there were a number of real positives to take on board.

Will Cooper put in an impressive shift at full back making some excellent yardage as well as giving solid defence.

Dean Andrew at nine and Matt Johns at 10, made telling contributions with Andrew Craddock also impressing in a good centre partnership with Ash Poynton.

Nathan Abrams and Simon Cox also benefitted from the run out with telling performances.
