THE home side immediately took control of the match and started to put pressure on the Dart defence. This pressure soon paid off when the Dart goalkeeper kicked the ball clear onto the waiting stick of Eleanor Marvin, who used her reverse stick to pass the ball to Viv Weatherington, who scored the first goal.
Oke quickly gained possession of the ball again. Central midfielder, Amy Smith, expertly outmanoeuvred the Dart players and passed the ball out wide to Sophie Mugliston , who was able to take the ball around to the D to pass in to the waiting attackers. Eleanor Marvin pounced on a loose ball in the D and skilfully reverse sticking to score Oke’s second goal.
Midfielder, Emilia Bazeley, frequently showed her skills as both a defender and an attacking player by blocking any advance by Dart and then using her speed to weave her way around the Dart players down to the D.
Dart made a few breaks towards the Oke goal but were quickly intercepted by the defenders Lois Rowlands and Lisa May. The third goal came from a long corner, which was quickly, taken into the D and Amy Smith struck the ball into the goal.
At the beginning of the second half, Dart came out with renewed conviction which required Oke captain Jane Jones to manage her defence to effectively clear the ball from the D. Sarah Marvin showed her determination and won several hotly contested block tackles. Izzy Rowlands tackled several Dart players who got hold of the ball, and nimbly took the ball into the D. Okehampton then won a short corner which was passed straight to Sandy Houston, who struck the ball resoundingly into the back of the goal. Okehampton continued with the pressure. Sophie Mugliston and Sarah Bazeley worked well together in the D, passing the ball to one another to outwit the defenders.
Sarah Bazeley hit the ball into the goal for Oke fifth and the sixth followed some swift play from Emilia Bazeley, who made her way from the half-way line, past several Dart players and into the D; she passed the ball across the D to Eleanor Marvin who slotted the ball into the goal.
