Carlsberg South West Peninsula division one East Okehampton Argyle 2 Budleigh Salterton 0 OKEHAMPTON were back to winning ways with this hard fought victory in the sunshine at Simmons Park. In a first half of few chances, it was the visitors who enjoyed the lion's share of possession but they were unable to break down a resolute Argyle defence marshalled superbly by Stuart Entwistle. Okehampton had a few problems with the clever movement of Budleigh's player/ manager Danny Williams, so at the break, manager Kevin Taylor switched his formation and from the beginning of the second half they began to reap the benefits as they took more of a foothold in the game and started to create one or two chances. However, it was the introduction of substitute Dean Jones that was the catalyst for Argyle to finish the stronger and they took the lead in the 75th minute when Jones sent veteran striker Roger Bonaparte racing clear down the left. His low cross to the far post was met by Oli Crimmins who steered the ball under the despairing dive of Budleigh keeper Alan Doble and into the net. The win was assured with a second goal in the 83rd minute when Ricky Wooldridge did well to regain possession on the edge of the Budleigh penalty area. He set the ball back for Chris Hollands to send over a deep cross that was met by Dean Jones who struck it low and into the far corner from six yards out. Despite a late flurry from Budleigh, Argyle's defence stood firm to keep their clean sheet intact and secure the win which sees the home side sat comfortably in mid table just four points off third placed Appledore. Manager Taylor was delighted with the way his side played. Argyle seconds made it another double for the club with a fine 3-0 win in the first round of the Devon Senior Cup against Topsham Town Reserves courtesy of a first half penalty from Jonjo Fellows and further strikes from Michal Rychlowski and Ross Voaden.
