BERE Alston Trekkers (BATs) provided the volunteers for the Tamar Trails park run, which was one of the few that wasn’t defeated by the Beast from the East storm.

Fifty four hardy park runners (including a couple of BATs) braved the cold conditions at the Tamar Trails to get their weekly park run fix. Organisers stressed that no one was to travel unless it was safe to do so.

People travelled from Cornwall and Weston Super Mare to take part in the Tamar Trails park run due to the 148 other park run cancellations in the region.

Event director Stuart Queen said: ‘A huge thanks to the wonderful members of Bere Alston Trekkers who supplied all the volunteers for Saturday’s event as a BATS takeover. You all did a fantastic job and we look forward to the next invasion.’

The next event for the BATs is their big breakfast which will be held in Bere Alston Village Hall on Saturday, March 10 from 9.30am to 12.30pm. As part of this event there will be a teddy tombola, the proceeds from which will help fund the redecoration of Bere Alston’s Trinity Hall.
