THE ladies A crew from Cotehele Quay Gig Club (CQGC) put on their best ever performance at the weekend to shine at the Newquay Ladies Championships, finishing 19th out of 91 crews.
The event was blessed with beautiful sunshine and calm conditions for the first day, providing a level playing field for all competitors. The three CQGC crews had a fantastic start with all in the early heats of round one.
Unfortunately Ladies B and Ladies C didn’t make it through to the second round, despite both crews finishing in a respectable place in their heats.
Ladies A moved on to round two, giving it their all in the fifth heat, where they came third. Going into the next round as the first ever ladies crew from Cotehele to make it to the quarter finals, the squad had a fantastic race finishing fourth in their heat.
