AT OKEHAMPTON Golf Club on Saturday a medal competition was held for the Jim Butcher Trophy. With the course in superb order and perfect playing conditions organisers were confident that some good scores would be achieved. The winner of division one was Gareth Holt with nett 62. Second with nett 63 was Keith Harkness and third with nett 64 was Norman Heslop. Division two was won by Steven Robinson with nett 63; Adam Holiday was second with nett 66 on the back nine from, in third, Ray Stevens also with nett 66. The winner of division three and the Jim Butcher Medal Trophy was Bob Collett with an amazing gross 79 nett 59. Second place was awarded to Matthew Parry with nett 63, in third place came Kevin Harding with nett 69. On July 2 the ladies of Okehampton Golf Club played a Stableford qualifying competition. The winner of the silver division with 34 points was Sue Stanbury, closely followed in second place by Lynn Hazelton with 33pts. In third with 30 points was Cherry James. The bronze division was won by Maggie Caws with 36pts; second with 35pts was Heather Skyrme and Jo Boswell was third with 31pts.
