BRIDESTOWE Cricket Club enjoyed their pre-season awards dinner and Natwest CricketForce day.
Captain Mark Butler collected the Devon Cricket League E division, Tamar League T20 A division, and Tavistock 10/10 tournament trophies from club president John Leonard.
Tom Fogerty scooped both batsman of the year for his top order runs, as well as performance of the year for his 100 at Kentisbeare. Chris Lavis picked up the bowler of the year, after a great year of consistent wicket taking. Dan Fogerty was voted as the most improved player after some outstanding performances with bat and ball. The chairman's award went to first XI scorer Geoff Allan for his ongoing contributions to the club, while the president's award went to Bernie and Jackie Whitehorn for their unrivalled support.
Bridestowe will be looking to build on last year's successes when they begin their 2015 campaign on Saturday, May 2. With more players showing interest in league cricket, the club will be fielding two teams in the Devon Cricket League this season with the first XI playing in the C division (West) and the seconds in the E division (East).
With a number of great signings already secured, the club is looking to bring in more players before the start of the season.
Club spokesman James Ewan said: 'We are a family friendly club, looking to bring people from the local community together to have fun.
'All standards of player, including beginners, are more than welcome - contact Jo Pritchard on 01837 861114 or email [email protected]">[email protected] for details.
'As well as players, the club are also looking for scorers and umpires to help out on Saturday afternoons. The club can provide all relevant training, a free cricket tea, as well as transport to matches — what better way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon?'
