Chagford 7

Axmouth United 1

THE hosts extended their unbeaten run, largely through doubles from the Stanbury twins and Andrew Davis.

Centre-back Miguel Dawson-Ambiado opened the scoring on nine minutes with a cool finish, following a melee in the Axmouth area, for his first Chagford goal. Possession was then fairly evenly shared but with Chagford spurning the better chances.

Axmouth failed to penetrate too deeply into the home defence. Josh Stanbury for the Moormen then came up with a quick-fire double, his first coming from his blistering pace and calmness when one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The second, from his corner, found it's way directly into the visitors' net.

After the break, Chagford came out with the better intentions and, within minutes, Davis netted to make it 4-0. On 55 minutes, Reece Hales found room to pull a goal back for United but Chagford refused to wobble with Tom Stanbury scoring his first soon after. Davis then scored his second and Tom Stanbury fired in the team's seventh with a low, long range drive.

This was a satisfying result made all the worthier as Axmouth played well but failed to put the finishing touches needed to compete better.

Hemyock Reserves 3

Chagford Reserves 3

CHAGFORD Reserves came home with a result that was unexpected but nonetheless well deserved.

Goals from Liam O'Connell, Ed Leach and Paul Spence put a dent in Hemyock's promotion credentials and the point will aid the Reserves in their battle for safety.
