AT Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday a three ball two to count Stableford competition for the Ted Browne Challenge Trophy was held.
There were perfect playing conditions with the course in superb order. Division one and the Ted Browne Trophy was won by Chris Hurley, Phil Martin and Martin Cox with 81 points. Kevin Cornwall, Mark Wonnacott and Paul Prouse were second with 79, closely followed by Rob Camies, Dave Chammings and Matt Soby with 78.
Winners of Division two with 78pts were David Grimes, Paul Alford and Bryan Evans second were Terry Steer, Pete Grimley and Geoff Brokenbrow with 73 and third were Alan Dunn, Barry Ratcliffe and Alan Jeffery on 72.
The ladies of Okehampton continue to achieve success in the club's centenary year. Cherry James is the 2013 handicap champion of the DCLGA County veterans after a near perfect round at Tavistock. Janice Thwaites came third in her division.
The President's team had a good home win against Torquay five and a half matches to one and a half, whilst the Sheelah Creasy team had a superb win away at Yelverton six matches to one.
Lin Atkinson and Jane Warren have progressed to the quarter finals of the county veterans knock-out with a 4-3 win against Staddon Heights at Wrangaton.
The Margaret Down Trophy and Peacock Salvers Competition took place on June 5 on a lovely sunny day. At the tea afterwards Margaret Down presented her trophy to Penny Deakin who won with a gross 86. The winners of the Peacock Salvers were, in the silver division, Cherry James with net 72 and in the bronze division, Lorna Evans with net 68.
