PAUL Batten, Okehampton Smallbore Rifle Club's top prone shooter, has had a fabulous winter indoor shooting season.

He has won several major prone shooting competitions which took place on the club's indoor range over many weeks during the winter.

Paul won the North Devon League's overall championship and also the North Devon's individual league, division one, together with the league's veteran's class. In the Devon individual league, division one, he was in first place too! After an outstanding season's shooting a modest Paul said he 'he was lucky'.

Other members of the club also shot well in the Winter Leagues and achieved good results too. In the North Devon League's team competition, Okehampton Club's C team of Martin Elliott, Vince Floyd, Chris Short and Stuart Bennie won division three, with Okehampton's D Team of Peter Blake, Peter Patterson, Steven Cooke and Amanda Elliott a close second.

Di Johnson, who is also the club's secretary, was third in the North Devon League's Ladies' Championship – a result she was very delighted with. In the North Devon individual competition Martin Elliott won division five and his wife, Amanda, won division seven.
