Okehampton Colts 48

Plymstock Albion Oaks Colts 0

IN the opening period of the first home league game of the season Okehampton enjoyed possession and territorial advantage but were making hard work of turning this into points before Billy Searle settled matters down with a penalty.

Okehampton who went on to make a number of well worked and taken tries. Kieran Lee was the first to cross the try line after a period of sustained pressure saw the full back squirm over for Searle to convert. Jake Barber followed this up with a superb finish after both forwards and backs had combined to put the second row clear. With both pace and some cute running skills the try was dotted behind the posts giving Searle an easy conversion.

First year colts Kyle May and Jake Giles-Phillips both made good contributions with May in the front row giving a sterling performance. The line out eventually found it's feet with one line out in particular going on the march from half way well into the visitors 22.

The Plymstock lads did not give in and it took smart play from the Okes to gain possession and territory. Further tries from Bickleigh, Folland and Lee brought the score at half time to 29-0.

The second half started in similar vain with the Okes establishing territorial advantage. Folland made good ground with his runs linking well with back row partner Abrams. In the backs Heard made divertive runs allowing Dennis and Andrew to punch holes in midfield and some good interplay and offloads saw Abrams go over for the first score of the second period.

The hosts ran in further tries from Cornthwaite, Folland and Searle with the latter being the grateful recipient of the finishing pass from interplay and offloads of the highest order. Full credit to Plymstock for their spirited performance.
